Portal is a mechanic unlocked after completing The Dimension of Anger. Along with Portal, the player also unlocks the ability to assign Perks using the now obtainable Helium. The player gains 30 Helium for this action.
By using the Portal, the player can soft reset their game, deleting all of their progress other than Helium and Perks. By doing this action, the player can assign Helium from their current run into leveling up Perks. The player also loses access to the Portal after using it, and is required to complete The Dimension of Anger again in order to gain access back to it. However, only access to the Portal is temporarily lost - Helium and Perks are never lost.
Through the Portal menu the player can start a new challenge.
After completing the Scientist challenge, the player will always start with 5000 science, 1 foreman, 100 food and 100 wood every time they use the Portal.
After completing the Scientist II challenge, the player will also additionally start with 5 Barns, 5 Sheds, 5 Forges, and Tier 2 Equipment unlocked every time they use the Portal.
Well, you did it. You followed your instincts through this strange world, made your way through the Dimension of Anger, and obtained this portal. But why? Maybe there will be answers through this portal... Your scientists tell you they can overclock it to bring more memories and items back, but they'll need helium to cool it.
